Uma Thurman breaks multiple bones in horse riding mishap

Uma Thurman broke several bones when she was thrown from a horse this week.

According to the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, Uma was seen being helped into St Barts restaurant La Plage by her children, with onlookers commenting that the 46-year-old "looked like she had hip surgery".

But a representative for the Pulp Fiction star told the publication that Uma is suffering following an equestrian accident.

"She was training on a young thoroughbred who got spooked," the spokesperson added. "She was thrown and broke a few bones."

Mother-of-three Uma has been a keen horse rider for many years, citing the sport as one of the main ways she maintains her slim figure.

The actress hit headlines last month (May16) when she helping with the auction at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala, but felt "violated" when one of the winners, businessman Lapo Elkann, turned the $196,000 win into a kissing session.

Uma appeared to go along with the stunt and managed to maintain her composure, even smiling for the cameras after the uncomfortable incident, but her publicist, Leslie Sloane, later made it clear the actress did not agree to such an inappropriate display.

"It is opportunism at its worst. She wasn't complicit in it," Sloane wrote in a statement issued to People.com. "Somewhere in his head he must have thought it an appropriate way of behaving. It clearly wasn't."

"She is very unhappy that this happened to her and feels violated."

Uma has been fairly quiet in terms of her acting roles in recent years, with her most recent coming in 2015 movie Burnt, which also starred Sienna Miller and Bradley Cooper.

However, she does have several projects in the pipeline, including Girl Soldier - a movie adaptation of Kathy Cook's book - and The Brits are Coming, in which she will appear alongside Sofia Vergara and Alice Eve.
